During the meeting of the Government of Russia, the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak made a presentation on the preparation of electric power facilities for the heating season of 2020-2021.

“Preparation of power industry enterprises for the autumn-winter period, which is necessary for reliable and high-quality power supply of the population, socially significant facilities and the economy as a whole during the period of maximum loads on the power system, is a priority for the Ministry of Energy,” stressed Alexander Novak.

The Minister said that the decisions on the cross-border relocation of equipment, timely adopted by the Government of the Russian Federation, as well as the possibility of the arrival of specialists, made it possible to carry out the previously planned volumes of repair work, which this year is 10.5% higher than last year.

The necessary fuel reserves have been accumulated at the facilities of the electric power industry. They exceed the standards by more than one and a half times. The " northern supply haul" for consumers of isolated and remote power systems was carried out in the normal mode.

“Modern control systems for technological processes and intelligent control systems are being introduced. The stability of energy supply to consumers with their use is ensured. In large cities, such systems have already been implemented and consumers in most cases do not feel the consequences of technological disruptions” said Alexander Novak.

The minister also spoke about the work on digitalization of the power grid complex. Completely digital objects, due to the introduction of network state sensors, network and substations control devices, made it possible to carry out remote operational switching and provide monitoring electrical equipment state in real time.

“The active introduction of such innovations in the power grid complex has already made it possible to achieve positive results in terms of reliability indicators. In the country as a whole, the average time of power outage for consumers has decreased by 30 minutes and is 1 hour, and power outages occur 40% less frequently,” said Alexander Novak.

The minister noted that the country, as a whole, has completed preparations for the autumn-winter period, the planned technical measures have been carried out, reserves have been created and the readiness of personnel has been ensured.

“During the heating season, we will keep  continuous monitoring the current situation and, if necessary, provide a prompt response to the risks of violations,” said Alexander Novak.
