Kyrgyzstan hosts summit-conference of women in the energy sector of Central Asian countries

From 9 to 10 August in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region, a summit-conference of women in the energy sector of Central Asian countries is being held.

The opening ceremony was attended by Director of the USAID Mission in Kyrgyzstan Kaya Adams, Deputy Head of the USAID Central Asia Energy Project Bayan Abylkairova, Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Doskul Bekmurzaev, First Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Issyk-Kul Oblast Ulanbek Daliev, President of the Women's Association in the energy sector of Kyrgyzstan Altynai Abdykerimova.

The main goal of this seminar is to share knowledge and experience, create opportunities for capacity building, networking, creating a platform for women energy professionals and professionals working in the energy sector to promote gender equality and social inclusion.

The speakers were women professionals working in the energy sector of the Central Asian countries: Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of ministries of energy, utilities, regulators, energy companies, universities and professional organizations.

As a result of this event, women working in the energy sectors of the Central Asian countries were able to share their experience and knowledge, as well as discuss common goals and barriers they face professionally and personally. Together, the participants were able to think and discuss possible solutions and ways to increase the number of young women and girls entering the STEM field in the future.
