By 2025, remote control of power grid equipment may appear at more than 200 substations in the Unified Power System of the Russian Federation, the UES System Operator (SO UES) said.

“In total, by 2025, the UPS plans to introduce automated remote control at more than 200 substations of various grid companies,” the report says.

The first project to introduce remote control was implemented by the System Operator together with Rosseti in the Sverdlovsk power system at substations of the ultra-high voltage class - 500 kV - Yemelino and Iset. The substations are involved in power generation at the Beloyarskaya NPP and the Votkinskaya HPP and provide electricity to over 4 million consumers in the Sverdlovsk Region.

Remote control allows ten times to reduce the duration of operational switching, note in SO UPS. This management format also makes it possible to reduce the risk of erroneous actions of personnel and increase the speed of eliminating power failures.
