It is planned to almost double the amount of power lines reconstruction in Belarus in 2021-2025. Systematic work in this direction is already underway. Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich told about this during his working trip to OJSC Peat Briquetting Plant (PBP) “Lyakhovichsky” (Brest region), the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports. According to the minister, taking into account the forthcoming commissioning of the BelNPP, projects for the construction and reconstruction of 1.7 thousand km of high-voltage transmission lines have been implemented in the country. This  allows to ensure the supply of electricity from the NPP to all regions of the country. “The task is to continue this work in order to expand the possibilities of using electricity for the population and the real sector of the economy,” noted Karankevich. “The future five-year plan will become for us the five-year modernization of the power grid infrastructure. It is planned to almost double the amount of reconstruction of power grids. If now we annually reconstruct about 1.5-1.7 thousand km of power lines, then by 2022-2023 it is necessary to reach 2.7 thousand km. The head of the Ministry of Energy believes that this will expand the possibilities for connecting the housing stock to electricity for heating and hot water supply, as well as significantly increase the reliability of the power grid infrastructure. Particular attention will be paid to the introduction of modern digital technologies in this area. The Minister also added that the total length of power lines in Belarus is about 280 thousand km.
