Uzbek authorities will consider alternative suppliers of gas and electricity

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov instructed the Ministry of Energy to negotiate with alternative foreign partners on the supply of natural gas, electricity, coal and fuel oil.

  “The Ministry of Energy this year should review issues related to the import of natural gas, electricity, coal and fuel oil, and negotiate with alternative foreign partners,” the message said about the meeting, held on January 23 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister.

In addition, during the meeting it was noted that according to preliminary calculations

in 2023, the country has the possibility of producing 56.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, or 4.6 billion more than last year (51.7 billion cubic meters).

It was also emphasized that by expanding the use of renewable energy sources and improving energy efficiency, 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas can be saved.

Earlier it was reported that today about 42% of all networks, including 39% of power transmission networks, 51% of substations and 35% of transformer points, have been in operation for more than 40 years.

Therefore, on the basis of the presidential decree, the government adopted a resolution to supply as soon as possible 299 transformers, 124.7 km of various cables, 186 tons of transformer oil for the stable and uninterrupted operation of the electrical networks of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and the city of Tashkent.
