Uzbekistan this year plans to build three new hydroelectric power plants and modernize four more existing ones.

"In the Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, special attention is paid to the further development of green energy. In 2022, seven projects with a total capacity of 173 MW will be launched in the hydropower industry," the ministry said.

In particular, three new HPPs will be built in the Samarkand region. Four more hydroelectric power plants in Surkhandarya, Samarkand and Tashkent regions will be modernized.

This work will bring the total capacity of the country's hydroelectric power plants to 2,225 MW.
