During the visit of the EBRD delegation to Uzbekistan, a document was signed on the allocation of the first corporate loan in the history of the Republic of Uzbekistan without a state guarantee for the implementation of an energy project.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) delegation was led by Sustainable Infrastructure Group Managing Director Nandita Parshad and Central Asia Managing Director Zsuzhanna Hargitai.

A mandate letter for the loan was signed between the EBRD and the National Electricity Networks of Uzbekistan JSC, supervised by the Ministry of Energy.

Financing will be allocated for the implementation of an investment project for the construction of a 500 kV high-voltage transmission line Sarymai-Zhankeldi. This transmission line will directly provide the power delivery of future wind power plants in two regions of the country: wind farm "BASH" 500 MW (Bukhara region) and wind farm "Dzhankeldy" 500 MW (Navoi region).

The construction projects of two wind farms are being implemented by ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia) on the basis of a public-private partnership. On January 24, 2021, an agreement was signed with this general contractor of the project on the purchase of electricity, which will be used to meet the growing demand of the population and the country's economy.
