First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar spoke about the ongoing work on the introduction of new technologies in the field of power generation.

“The country is taking measures to increase the capacity of energy sources. Last year, for the first time, auctions were held for the construction of new plants.

By 2026, flexible generation units with a total capacity of 1,700 MW will appear in Almaty, Kyzylorda, Turkestan and Ulytau regions. Investment agreements have been launched for the modernization of existing power plants with an additional capacity of more than 1,300 MW,” said Roman Sklyar during the parliamentary hearings.

According to him, a Roadmap for the construction of a new Ekibastuz GRES-3 with the introduction of modern technologies has been developed. Samruk-Energo is implementing a project for the construction of additional power units at the Ekibastuz GRES-2. In addition, it is planned to expand Aksuskaya GRES.

“Last year, 12 renewable energy facilities with a capacity of 385 MW were launched. This year, 15 renewable energy facilities with a capacity of 276 MW were put into operation. As a result, the share of renewable energy production will increase to 5%. By 2025, it is planned to put into operation 41 projects of renewable energy sources with a capacity of 757 MW,” added Roman Sklyar.
