A meeting of the Commission on Economic Issues under the CIS Economic Council was held at the Skolkovo Innovation Center
On May 17, a regular meeting of the Commission on Economic Issues was held at the Skolkovo Innovation Center (Moscow), during which a number of aspects of economic cooperation between the CIS member states were considered.
The members of the Commission were provided with information on the implementation of the List of Joint Responses to Emerging Problems dated June 10, 2022, as well as on its possible updating. The presented materials testify that the work is being carried out in all areas indicated in the List. For a number of items, the work is at the final stage, for the rest of the items, intermediate results have been achieved, or work is being carried out as planned.
Work is also underway on a possible addition to the List in accordance with the initiative expressed at the meeting of the CIS Economic Council on March 17, 2023. The meeting of the Working Group to discuss possible additions to the List is scheduled for May 22, 2023.
The members of the Commission were also invited to consider the issue of the implementation of the Decision of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS dated May 19, 2011 on the List of measures in the field of combating offenses in the field of intellectual property to accompany the stages of implementation of the Economic Development Strategy of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the period up to 2020. The Information on the implementation of this Decision of the Council of the Heads of Government of the CIS shows that the Commonwealth states are taking measures aimed at strengthening administrative and criminal liability for the illegal use and distribution of intellectual property, including in the digital environment, the production and distribution of counterfeit products, and improving the corresponding legal and regulatory framework in terms of tougher penalties for violations of intellectual property rights.
In addition, operational-search, special operations and preventive raids are carried out on an ongoing basis to identify and confiscate counterfeit and counterfeit products. Also, measures are being taken to train personnel and improve the skills of employees of internal affairs bodies, customs, tax authorities in the field of intellectual property.
During the meeting, information was considered on the implementation in 2021–2022 of the Complex of joint actions of the CIS member states for the prevention and control of rabies for the period up to 2025. The tasks defined by the Joint Action Complex are being actively implemented. Programs for the prevention and control of rabies are being developed, an assessment of the epizootic situation is being carried out, preventive immunization of animals and monitoring of the immune status are being carried out, and the effectiveness of existing measures is being evaluated.
The attention of the members of the Commission was brought to the attention of the issue of road safety on the roads of the CIS, prepared by the Intergovernmental Council of Road Builders. The Information provides an assessment of the state of accidents on the roads of the CIS member states, considers the impact of the development of the road network and traffic management systems on road safety, substantiates the need for an integrated approach to solving problems of ensuring road safety, including at the stages of design, construction and reconstruction of roads.
During the meeting of the Commission, presentations of the activities of innovative companies-residents of the Skolkovo Technopark were presented.
