Azerbaijan Energy Ministry and ACWA Power will sign an agreement on a wind farm project
On December 29, 240 MW wind power plant project agreement will be signed between the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry and ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia) company, as well as between ACWA Power company and Azerenerji OJSC. The use of renewable energy sources was identified by the head of state as one of the priority areas for the development of the energy sector. Thus, the focus is on the implementation of pilot projects of 240 MW wind power plant and 200 MW solar power plant construction in accordance with agreements signed with ACWA Power and Masdar (OJSC) on January 9 of this year. In order to fulfill the relevant order of the President of Azerbaijan, seven working groups function, consisting of representatives of the Ministries of Energy, Economy, Finance, Emergency Situations, Ecology and Natural Resources, Justice, as well as of the Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the State Service for Property Affairs, the State Tax Service, Central Bank, Azerenerji OJSC and Azerishig OJSC. At present, Azerbaijan is taking consistent steps to develop alternative energy. For this purpose, negotiations are underway with foreign companies and investors, including companies from China, the UAE, the USA and the EU.
