Azerbaijan increases electricity production

In January-March 2020, power plants in Azerbaijan generated 6.7 billion kWh of electricity, which is 5.9% more than the same period in 2019, the report of the State Statistics Committee reported.

Of the total electricity generated during the indicated period, commodity accounted for 6.5 billion kWh, which is 0.06% more than in the same period in 2019.

Of the total volume of commercial electricity generated during the reporting period, thermal power plants (TPPs) accounted for 6.2 billion kWh, which is 6% more than in the same period in 2019.

During the indicated period, hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) of Azerbaijan generated 0.216 billion kWh of electricity (a decline of 26.8%).

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan generated 24.2 million kWh of electricity by wind power in Azerbaijan (a 1.3-fold decline), and 8.7 million kWh of electricity by solar stations (a decrease of 0.06%).
