As part of the program to expand and support the use of renewable energy sources, solar and photovoltaic power plants will be commissioned  and the use of renewable energy sources will be developed.

The draft presidential decree provides for an increase in the share of renewable energy sources to 25% by 2026, which will save about 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.

A program will be developed to expand and support the use of renewable energy sources, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reports. According to which:

- 8 wind power plants (WPPs) with a total capacity of 4,000 MW will be built, namely:

  • 4 wind power plants in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as in the Bukhara and Navoi regions with a total capacity of 1600 MW in 2023-2024;
  • In 2025-2026, 4 wind power plants with a total capacity of 2,400 MW will be commissioned throughout the country.

- Solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 4000 MW will be commissioned, namely:

  • In Navoi, Jizzakh, Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions, 4 power plants with a total capacity of 1100 MW will be commissioned in 2023;
  • 5 power plants in Bukhara, Namangan, Khorezm, Kashkadarya and Fergana regions with a total capacity of 900 MW in 2024;
  • In 2025-2026, solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 1800 MW will be commissioned throughout the country.
  • By 2030, the volume of small renewable energy sources up to 1 MW will be increased to 1000 MW.

- The management system for the use of renewable energy sources will be improved.
