Electricity generation in Russia in June increased by 2.1%, to 84.1 billion kWh – Rosstat
Electricity generation in Russia in June 2023 amounted to 84.1 billion kWh, which is 2.1% higher than in the same month in 2022 and 6.5% lower than in May 2023. This is stated in the materials of Rosstat.
In particular, Russian thermal power plants in June increased their output by 4.1% year-on-year to 48.2 billion kWh, remaining the main supplier of electricity to the country's unified power system with a share of 64.8% of total production. At the same time, nuclear power plants increased their output by 11.6%, to 17.9 billion kWh. HPP production decreased by 10.5% year-on-year to 17.5 billion kWh.
RES generation facilities produced 538 million kWh of electricity in June (an increase of 0.8%).
In January-June 2023, the total electricity production in the Russian Federation amounted to 589 billion kWh, which corresponds to the level of January-June 2022. Thus, production at thermal power plants increased by 3.6%, to 382 billion kWh, but at nuclear power plants and hydroelectric power plants it decreased by 5.3% and 7.1%, to 106 billion and 97.5 billion kWh, respectively. Generation at RES facilities for the first half of the year increased by 1.3%, to 3.3 billion kWh.
