Electricity production in Russia in 2022 increased by 0.6%, heat decreased by 3.3% - Rosstat

According to the results of 2022, electricity production in Russia increased by 0.6% in annual terms and amounted to 1.167 trillion kWh, follows from the materials of Rosstat.

In particular, the generation of thermal power plants (TPPs) showed an increase of 3.1%, to    737 billion kWh (share in total generation - 69%), nuclear power plants (NPPs) - by 0.5%, to   224 billion kWh, and the generation of hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) decreased by 7.7% to 200 billion kWh. RES generation increased  by 18.1% to 7 billion kWh.

In December 2022, the total electricity generation in the Russian Federation decreased by 0.7% compared to December. At the same time, production at thermal power plants increased by 3.9%, while at nuclear power plants and hydroelectric power plants it decreased by 8.9% and 11.9%, respectively.

The production of steam and hot water over the past year in the country as a whole amounted to 1,297 million Gcal (-3.3%), including 594 million Gcal (-2.9%) supplied by power plants, 610 million Gcal (-4%) by boiler houses , 90.5 million Gcal (-1.1%).

In December, in annual terms, the total production of steam and hot water decreased by 1.4%. At the same time, production by power plants increased by 0.7%, by boiler houses and industrial utilization plants decreased by 2.9% and 5.7%, respectively.

The production of transformers in the Russian Federation in 2022 increased by 16.4% compared to the level of 2021 and reached 57 million kVA.

At the same time, in December last year, relative to December 2021, the indicator jumped by 33.7%, and increased by 2.5 times relative to November.
