Electricity production in the Republic of Azerbaijan increased by 0.8% over 8 months

According to operational data for January-August 2023, the total volume of electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 19,245.2 million kWh. Compared to the same period last year, electricity production increased by 154.2 million kWh (0.8%).

Over 8 months, electricity production at thermal power plants amounted to 17,714.1 million kWh, at hydroelectric power plants - 1,282.0 million kWh, and from other sources - 249.1 million kWh. The wind farm produced 41.7 million kWh of electricity, the solar power plant produced 46.9 million kWh, and the solid waste incineration plant produced 160.5 million kWh.

During the reporting period, electricity generation at Azerenerji OJSC amounted to 17,328.1 million kWh (16,132.0 million kWh at thermal power plants, 1,196.1 million kWh at hydroelectric power plants), 330.2 million kWh in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (211.7 million kWh at thermal power plants, 75.6 million kWh at hydroelectric power plantss, 42.9 million kWh at solar power plants), 32.2 million kWh at the wind farms of Azerishig OJSC and 1554 .7 million kWh at independent power producers).

In January-August 2023, electricity exports amounted to 1,530.6 million kWh, imports – 169.3 million kWh.

It is worth noting that electricity generation in August 2023 amounted to 2921.8 million kWh. Electricity imports amounted to 11.6 million kWh, exports – 253.5 million kWh.
