Electricity production increased in Azerbaijan

In January-August 2021, all types of power plants in Azerbaijan generated 17.467 billion kWh of electricity.

In the report of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, this indicator increased on an annualized basis by 7.2%, or 260.1 million kWh of electricity.

It is noted that the hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) of Azerbaijan in January-August 2021 produced 945 million kWh of electricity, which is 14.3% (116.3 million kWh) more than in the same period last year.

Electricity generation by TPPs amounted to 15.897 billion kWh, which is 7.2% (160.6 million kWh) more than in January-August 2020.

In the reporting period, wind power plants in Azerbaijan generated 57.2 million kWh of electricity, which is 16.9% (11.6 million kWh) less than in January-August last year.

Solar power plants in the country produced 37.4 million kWh of electricity, which exceeds indicator for the same period last year by 16.1%, or 5.2 million kWh.
