Electricity production growth in Kazakhstan
All power plants of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the first half of 2021 generated 57,325.4 million kWh of electricity, which is 7.1% more than in the same period in 2020.
This is reported with reference to the of the System Operator's data in the Analytical Review of the electricity and coal market in Kazakhstan for January-June 2021, prepared by the Market Development Department of Samruk-Energo JSC.
Generation growth was observed in all zones of the Unified Power System (UPS) of Kazakhstan.
The volume of electricity production by the power plants of Samruk-Energo JSC for this period amounted to 17,891.1 million kWh, which is 25.8% more than last year's indicators for the same period.
At the same time, according to the analysis, there was 6% increase in the dynamics of electricity consumption of the republic in January-June 2021 in comparison with the indicators of January-June 2020. Thus, in the northern zone of the republic, consumption increased by 6%, in the southern by 10% and in the western by 2%.
Experts of Samruk-Energo JSC note that according to the forecast balance of power and capacity for 2021-2027 by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is expected that power consumption will grow by an average of 2.4%.
In addition, by 2027, a shortage of power capacity is forecasted, taking into account the necessary reserve in the amount of about 898 MW. At the same time, already now in the UPS of Kazakhstan there is a deficit of regulation capacity of about 1000 MW.
