Electricity production in Azerbaijan for January-March 2021 amounted to 6,924.9 million kWh
For January-March of this year, electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 6,924.9 million kWh. In the reporting period of 2021, compared to January-March 2020, electricity generation at thermal power plants decreased by 59.1 million kWh (to 6604 million), production at hydroelectric power plants increased by 15.6 million kWh (to 236 million) , generation by other energy sources decreased by 4.7 million kWh and amounted to 84.9 million kWh.
At the same time, 9.2 million kWh were generated at solar power plants, 22.5 million kWh at wind power plants, and 53.1 million kWh of electricity at a solid waste incineration plant.
In the first quarter of 2021, electricity imports into the country amounted to 32.1 million kWh, including 8.2 million kWh from Iran, 15.3 million kWh from Russia and 8.6 million kWh from Georgia.
Export of electricity from Azerbaijan in the first three months of this year increased by 25.9 million kWh and reached 509 million kWh. The largest importer of electricity from Azerbaijan was Georgia - 464.9 million kWh. 23.1 million kWh were exported to Russia, 12.7 million kWh to Turkey and 8.3 million kWh to Iran.
