Electricity production in the Republic of Azerbaijan increased by 7.7% in the first 3 months of this year
According to current data for January-March 2023, the total electricity production in Azerbaijan amounted to 7,756.2 million kWh. Compared to the same period in 2022, electricity generation increased by 551.7 million kWh (7.7%) over 3 months.
In the reporting period, compared to January-March last year, electricity generation at thermal power plants increased by 527.3 million kWh, amounting to 7387.4 million kWh, at HPPs increased by 24.7 million kWh, amounting to 277.9 million kWh, and according to other sources (wind farms, solar power plants and the solid waste incineration plant) decreased by 0.3 million kWh, amounting to 90.9 million kWh. 15.5 million kWh of electricity was generated at the wind farm, 13.4 million kWh at the SPP, and 62.0 million kWh at the solid waste incineration plant.
For three months, electricity generation at Azerenergy OJSC amounted to 7043.4 million kWh (6781.1 million kWh at TPPs, 262.3 million kWh at HPPs), 87.3 million kWh at the State Agency energy sector of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (61.5 million kWh at TPPs, 13.6 million kWh at HPPs), 12.2 million kWh at SPPs), 11.8 million kWh at wind farms of Azerishyg OJSC, 613.7 million kWh at Autonomous SPPs).
In January-March 2023, electricity imports amounted to 31.3 million kWh, exports - 1,238.9 million kWh.
It should be noted that electricity production in the republic in March this year compared to the same period in 2022 increased by 269.4 million kWh or 11.7%, amounting to 2579.3 million kWh. During the month, imports of electricity production amounted to 10.2 million kWh, exports - 402.9 million kWh.
