In 2023, it is planned to put into operation 19 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 239.1 MW. On May 22, 2023, the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic Mirlan Zhakypov announced this.

“In order to achieve our goals, it is necessary to build new renewable energy facilities that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere,” the deputy minister said.

The Deputy Minister said that the stable growth of energy consumption in the republic creates conditions for direct and indirect investments in the construction of power plants based on renewable energy sources.

M. Zhakypov said that there are 24 small HPPs in the republic with a total capacity of 66.5 MW. In 2023, it is planned to put into operation 19 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 239.1 MW. And by 2024, it is planned to build 12 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 53.5 MW, said the Deputy Minister of Energy.

In addition, the Deputy Minister spoke about plans for the construction of solar power plants.

“In the Kyrgyz Republic, it is planned to build solar power plants with a total capacity of 1,600 MW and the projects of the Orto-Tokai, Karakol and Papan hydroelectric power plants are being implemented. In this regard, the issues of development and implementation of renewable energy sources in the power sector of the country come to the fore and are an important condition for the development of the economy and competitiveness in the modern world,” the Deputy Minister said.
