In January-August, Azerbaijan reduced electricity production by 0.7% and exports by 11.8%
Electricity production in Azerbaijan in January-August 2020 decreased by 0.7% compared to the same period last year to 17 billion 502.7 million kWh, the Energy Ministry said.
At the same time, 2 billion 156.2 million kWh of electricity were generated in August.
According to the ministry's operational data, in January-August of this year, TPPs in Azerbaijan produced 16 billion 415.5 million kWh (an increase of 1.4%), while hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) generated 846.6 million kWh (decline by 29.7%).
Electricity production from alternative sources in January-August this year amounted to 240.6 million kWh (decline by 1.8%). In particular, 70.5 million kWh were generated at wind power plants, 33.1 million kWh at solar power plants, and 137 million kWh at a municipal solid waste incineration plant.
Of the total electricity production, Azerenerji OJSC accounted for 15 billion 649.8 million kWh or 89.4% of the total electricity generation in Azerbaijan.
Electricity generation at private power plants amounted to 1 billion 566.4 million kWh, the rest - at other power facilities, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
In January-August 2020, electricity exports from Azerbaijan amounted to 829.7 million kWh (a decline of 11.8% - interfax)
Electricity imports for the same period decreased by 6.7% - to 94.7 million kWh.
