On July 14, 2022, in Nur-Sultan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Polymetal Eurasia LLP, KEGOC JSC and the ALE Qazaq Green RES Association signed a quadripartite memorandum on cooperation and support for renewable energy projects of the Polymetal group of companies in Kazakhstan as part of the execution of the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to increase the share of renewable energy sources and maneuvering capacities.

The signed document is aimed at the development, financing, construction and operation of new power plants.

The international gold mining company Polymetal also plans to contribute to the development of green energy. The company's project in the regions of Abay and Kostanay intends the construction of two solar power plants with a total capacity of 39.6 MW and one gas piston shunting power plant with a capacity of 40 MW within five years. The total investment will be more than $90 million.

The new green generation will provide Kazakhstan with more than 63 million kWh of clean electricity per year.

The implementation of the projects will make it possible to achieve the target indicators approved by the Concept of Kazakhstan's transition to a "green" economy, attract additional investment, create new jobs, and increase the production of "green" electricity, - said Zhandos Nurmaganbetov, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The facility planned for construction is unique in that, on the one hand, we are developing renewable energy sources and building new solar plants, and on the other hand, understanding the instability of renewable energy generation, we are helping the country's power system to introduce new flexible capacities that will help solve the problem of imbalances. In this sense, such a project is the first in the history of the electric power industry of Kazakhstan, - Nurlan Kapenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qazaq Green RES Association, emphasized.
