Issues of water and energy cooperation in Central Asia were discussed in Tashkent

In Tashkent, representatives of the energy and water departments of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discussed issues of water and energy cooperation. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, proposals for the development of the power system of Central Asian countries were considered. The main attention was paid to the issues of high load on power systems in the autumn-winter period, the construction of new hydroelectric power plants and the development of power systems in Central Asian countries.

Decisions have been made regarding mechanisms for mutual assistance in emergency situations and the formation of backup sources.

The parties also discussed the fulfillment of mutual obligations for the supply of water resources and electricity over the past year.

At the next meeting, the parties will discuss the topic of construction of hydroelectric power plants, in particular, the construction of the Kambarata hydroelectric power plant on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
