Members of the EEC Energy Committee agreed on the transit of electricity within EAEU
At a meeting of the Electricity Consulting Committee, representatives of the authorized bodies and energy companies of the Eurasian "Five" found a consensus on a number of issues requiring priority regulation for preparing the rules for functioning of the common electricity market of the Eurasian Economic Union. The event was held on January 21 under the chairmanship of Minister - Member of the Board for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Emil Kaikiev. A positive result was achieved in electricity transit matters, not related to electricity trade on the all-Union market. At the meeting, they discussed the accounting and regulation of such interstate transmission of electricity. Also, the EAEU countries discussed the idea of common electricity market operator establishing and agreed that the study of the initiative of Kazakhstan representatives will continue. At the same time, the members of the Electricity Consulting Committee approved the draft action plan for the implementation of the Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 in terms of the EAEU common electricity market formation and considered the possibility of establishing a Council of Heads of the authorized bodies of the Member States in the field of energy.
