More than 93.5% of electricity in Tajikistan is produced by hydroelectric power plants

More than 93.5% of electricity produced in Tajikistan is generated by hydroelectric power plants.

As Avesta was informed in the energy sector of the country, the total volume of electricity generation in the republic for the first seven months of this year amounted to 12 billion 502.7 million kWh, which is 360.9 million kWh, or 3% more than the same period of 2021.

The country's hydroelectric power plants generated 11 billion 697.5 million kWh of electricity during the specified period. This figure is more than 93.5% of the total electricity generated throughout the country.

More than 1.1 billion kWh have been produced in combined heat and power plants. The volume of thermal energy generation for this period amounted to 675.8 thousand Gcal, which is 5.8% less than the same period in 2021.

Solar power plants produced only 2 thousand kWh of electricity.

In the seven months of this year, Tajikistan gained more than $64.5 million from the supply of electricity to neighboring countries. This figure exceeds the figure for electricity exports in the same period in 2021 by 17.2%.
