Russia will build three turnkey coal-fired thermal power plants in Kazakhstan
Russia and Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation between the ministries of energy for the construction of several thermal power plants.
The signing took place during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Astana. We are talking about cooperation on the construction projects of the Kokshetau Thermal Power Plant, the Semey Thermal Power Plant and the Ust-Kamenogorsk Thermal Power Plant.
As Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar said, we are talking about coal-fired thermal power plants. “In Kokshetau there is no thermal power plant at all, in Semey the construction of a thermal power plant is required, now the feasibility study has not yet been developed, and then in Ust-Kamenogorsk... Construction will be turnkey,” Sklyar told reporters.
“Next year, implementation of the Kokshetau CHPP will already begin,” he added.
The parties also signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation on labor inspection issues between the Federal Service for Labor and Employment and the Committee of Labor and Social Protection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan.
