In the first two months of this year, Tajikistan has increased the supply of electricity to neighboring countries by 90.2% compared to the same period in 2020.

The export of electricity in January-February of this year amounted to $ 7 million 76 thousand, according to the Tajik statistical department.

It is noted that for the same period in 2020, the export of Tajik electricity amounted to $ 3 million 720 thousand.

Earlier, the country's energy department reported that supplies are currently being carried out in small volumes only to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, residents of rural areas of Tajikistan have been receiving electricity in limited quantities since September last year, although the authorities announced the official limit on electricity only on January 5 this year, citing a lack of water and energy resources.

Currently, only residents of multi-storey buildings receive electricity on a 24-hour basis, and the population in villages is supplied with energy exclusively during the day - at night from 11 am to 5 am they are left without electricity.

In January-February of this year, the republic produced more than 3.4 billion kWh of electricity, which is 12.3% less than in the first two months of 2020.

Electricity generation by hydroelectric power plants decreased by almost 15%, while thermal power plants, on the contrary, increased by 0.4%.
