Tajikistan plans to produce up to 10% of electricity from renewable sources such as solar and wind by 2030, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic Daler Juma said at a press conference.
“In this direction, together with development partners, we have currently identified four projects with a capacity of 50 MW to 450 MW. They will be built in the Sughd region. At present, work on a feasibility study is ongoing. By the end of the year, we will determine the sources of funding for the projects,” the minister said.
Now Tajikistan generates up to 98% of electricity at hydroelectric power plants. According to the Ministry of Energy, electricity production in the republic in 2022 reached a record high for the entire period of independence of the country – about 21.4 billion kWh.
