Tajikistan sold for $ 40 million worth of electricity to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan
Tajikistan sold for $ 40 million worth of electricity to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan exports to Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.
The export of Tajik electricity for six months of this year compared with last year decreased by 324.9 million kWh.
Mirzo Ismoilzoda, head of the Barki Tojik OJSC, said at a meeting with journalists that the reason for the reduction is a decrease in the inflow of water to the Nurek hydroelectric power plant,
According to Mirzo Ismoilzoda, during six months 546.6 million kWh of electricity were exported to Afghanistan, and 358.3 million kWh to Uzbekistan.
"If 320 MW was exported to Afghanistan every day, now this figure has decreased to 40 MW. Electricity exports to Uzbekistan have also decreased. In general, electricity exports for six months of this year compared to last year decreased by 324.9 million kWh. This is due to a decrease in the inflow of water in Vakhsh and the redistribution of power grids in Afghanistan, "Mirzo Ismoilzoda said.
Electricity worth over $ 23 million was exported to Afghanistan, and over $ 7.2 million to Uzbekistan.
"The inflow of water on the Vakhsh river over the past three months has decreased by almost 30%, that is why the water flow to the Nurek HPP has also decreased. The last two days, the water level in Vakhsh has increased, which will serve to increase the volume of electricity exports. We hope that by autumn the water level in Nurek will reach its highest mark of 910 meters, and we will be able to catch up in full, "the company said.
