The CIS Executive Committee took part in the 60th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council

On July 14, 2022, the 60th anniversary meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council was held in Nur-Sultan (Republic of Kazakhstan), which was attended by the heads of the electric power industry management bodies and electric power companies of the CIS member states.

The meeting was attended by members of the Council from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan. From the Executive Committee of the CIS, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation Myskin M.E. took part in the meeting of the Council.

With a welcoming speech to the meeting participants (in video format) the Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary S.N. Lebedev, who noted that the activity of the CIS Electric Power Council is an example of constructive interaction in solving the pressing problems of the Commonwealth and confirms the demand for close cooperation between the CIS member states in the energy sector.

The Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zh.D. Nurmaganbetov and Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, President of the CIS Electric Power Council N.G. Shulginov also welcomed the participants of the meeting.

The following thematic reports were presented for discussion to the members of the Council:

• on topical issues of cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of renewable energy;
• on the contribution of low-carbon electricity to the sustainable development of the CIS;
• on technological sovereignty and industrial cooperation from the point of view of the energy security of the CIS member states;

• on the digital transformation of the electric power industry of the CIS member states.

At the meeting, an updated version of the Regulations on the Coordinating Council under the CIS Electric Power Council was adopted; the updating of the activities of working groups and other structures of the Council was discussed.

The Report on the activities of the CIS Electric Power Council in 2019-2021 was approved, which is planned to be submitted to the CIS Economic Council in September 2022.

The next meeting of the Council is scheduled to be held in October-November 2022 in Moscow.
