The first 2,000 “Green Energy” certificates for electricity produced from renewable energy sources have been issued in the Republic of Uzbekistan
As part of the phased implementation of the “Green Energy” certificate system, confirming the use of renewable energy sources for electricity production, the first generating facilities were registered in Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan notes that for the first time in Uzbekistan, 2,000 “Green Energy” certificates were issued for electricity generated at the facilities of the Tuyaboguz hydroelectric power plant.
According to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 12, 2023 No. PP-156, measures have been taken to establish cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan (authorized body) and the International Organization for Certification of Renewable Energy Sources (I-REC).
Since the beginning of June 2023, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has received approval from I-REC as a national issuer.
On June 27, 2023, an agreement was concluded between the National Issuer and Uzbekhydroenergo JSC, the registrant, on standard conditions for issuing a certificate for the practical implementation and implementation of the Green Energy certificate system for electricity produced at hydroelectric power plants.
4 generating facilities with a total capacity of 962.4 MW were registered on the common electronic platform of certificates “Green Energy” (I-REC), including Charvak hydroelectric power plant (666 MW), Khojakent hydroelectric power plant (165 MW), Gazalkent hydroelectric power plant (120 MW) and Tuyabogiz hydroelectric power plant Hydroelectric power plant (11.4 MW).
