The Government of the Russian Federation again postponed the selection of renewable energy projects

The selection of generation projects based on renewable energy sources (RES) this year will not take place, follows from the decree of the government of the Russian Federation, published on the official Internet portal of legal acts. The tender has been postponed to next year and will run until May 1, 2023.

The extension was expected. Thus, in April, the Ministry of Energy reported that it was proposing to postpone the selection of renewable energy projects from autumn for another year and a half. "The ministry proposed from the very beginning to postpone the selection period longer than the period that has now been adopted (from spring to autumn - IF). And we believe that it would be more correct to postpone the selection for another year and a half. That is, in general, to postpone for two years," Pavel Snikkars, Deputy Minister of Energy  told reporters.

Initially, the selection of renewable energy projects was supposed to be carried out in May-June, but after the appeal of market participants, the government postponed it to the second half of this year.

At the same time, RREDA (Renewable Energy Development Association), which unites investors in the renewable energy sector, then opposed the proposal to shift the selection of projects for another year and a half. According to market participants, a further postponement will deprive them of the opportunity for strategic planning and leave them without guidance for two years. "In the current situation of uncertainty, such decisions must be made in the mode of adaptation to real conditions, and not create negative signals for the long term," the RREDA emphasized.
