The Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic issued certificates to 90 companies for the construction of solar, wind and small hydropower plants. Energy Minister Doskul Bekmurzaev spoke about this on March 31, answering a journalist's question at a press conference in Bishkek.

The question concerned the construction of solar and wind power plants in the country.

“You are right, Kyrgyzstan should not live only with hydro or thermal power plants. We do not lag behind fashion, we go in accordance with global trends. To date, 149 certificates for the construction of power plants have been issued to 90 companies for a total capacity of 3,726 MW. This almost corresponds to our entire generation capacity in Kyrgyzstan,” he said.

The minister said that out of the planned capacity, permits for 2098 MW were issued for solar power plants, 390 MW for wind power plants and 938 MW for small hydropower plants.
