The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation reported that RES in Russia will develop in a different way than in European countries
Renewable energy in Russia will develop in a different way than in Europe, as the country will focus on nuclear and gas generation, as well as the generation of large hydroelectric power plants, in addition to solar and wind energy. Pavel Snikkars, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, told TASS about this in the “Three questions about the main thing” section of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“We will focus on the development of low-carbon generation - this is nuclear generation. Europe is also turning as much as possible in this direction. This is the development of large hydropower plants, taking into account our climatic features and capabilities, and this includes the development of gas generation - in European taxonomy it is designated as generation in the transitional period. Therefore, in terms of solutions, we, it seems to me, have a different [compared to European countries] position, and the goal itself is the sustainable development of the economy, this is the right goal,” the Deputy Minister said.
