The Ministry of Energy of Belarus and Russia discussed the creation of a unified electricity market

The ministries of energy of Belarus and Russia discussed topical issues of creating and functioning of the united electricity and gas markets, the press service of the Belarusian energy department reported.

The talks were held during a meeting between Energy Minister of Belarus Viktor Karankevich and Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov. The meeting reviewed the progress in the execution of action plans for the implementation of union programs that provide for the creation of common energy markets, including issues of preparing the necessary regulatory and legal framework.

The parties paid attention to the terms of interaction within the framework of the unified electricity market - amendments to the agreement on the parallel operation of the energy systems of the two countries were agreed, domestic procedures are being carried out to sign this document. They also discussed the principles of forming a united gas market.
