The Russian government approved a 3-year roadmap for the development of electricity transmission technologies and smart energy systems
The Russian government has approved a three-year roadmap for the development of electricity transmission technologies and smart energy systems, said Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
"The President spoke in his Address to the Federal Assembly about the necessity for new approaches in this area . We need the latest generation innovative solutions in the energy sector - from increasing the reliability of networks to new composite materials for high-voltage wires to provide people and businesses with uninterrupted power supply and reduce power losses," noted the head of the Cabinet.
"We will launch in the country manufacturing of the entire spectrum of critically important equipment, primarily high-temperature superconductors and digital transformer substations, and develop the domestic component base for process control systems," he added.
As one of the priority tasks Mishustin called "the introduction of energy storage systems that can bring the use of renewable sources - wind and solar power plants to a new level." "Such technologies are especially needed by residents of remote and hard-to-reach territories where there is no central power supply," the Prime Minister emphasized.
In addition, he said, "we will introduce intelligent energy metering." "These digital solutions make it possible to refuse data manual transmission, practically exclude the possibility of electricity theft and help to report an accident in the network as soon as possible," the Prime Minister explained, stressing that it is necessary to start implementing this "roadmap" "promptly."
