In 2023, Turkmenistan plans to launch a ring power system. This was stated by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov - Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesha at a meeting with students and teachers of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan in Mary.

“The main goal of this large-scale project is to increase the production of electrical energy and increase the reliability of energy supply to domestic consumers by connecting the power systems of Ashgabat and the velayats into a single energy ring,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

Recall that the implementation of this project was entrusted to the consortium of companies Çalik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Turkey) and Çalik Enerji Swiss AG (Switzerland). In 2020, the State Corporation "Turkmenenergo" signed contracts with Çalik Enerji Sanayi for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of telemechanics, communications and SCADA systems for high-voltage power lines and power plants Ahal - Balkan and Balkan - Dashoguz.

In October 2021, a 421 km Akhal-Balkan high-voltage transmission line was put into operation, which became the first stage of the project to create common ring power system of the country. It was implemented using long-term loans from the Asian Development Bank.

“The implementation of the ring power system project on the Akhal-Balkan and Balkan-Dashoguz highways will allow creating a common power system of the country. We plan to launch it in 2023,” Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

He noted that during his visit this year to the Dashoguz velayat, the President of the country got acquainted with the construction of the overhead power line Balkan-Dashoguz. The intensive construction and installation works indicate that the construction of the facility will be completed on time.

In the future, it is planned to modernize the existing Ashgabat-Mary power transmission line.

According to the head of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Parliament, the implementation of these plans will ensure mutual insurance of all parts of the power system of Turkmenistan. This system will also pave the way for the development of productive cooperation between the countries of the region and the enhancement of their economic potential.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also said that by 2028 it is planned to install over 3.28 thousand kilometers of power transmission lines in all velayats of the country and increase the volume of electricity production to 37.5 billion kWh, which is 22.5% higher than this year's level.
