Uzbekistan has started reconstruction of a high-power transmission line, through which it receives electricity from Tajikistan

Reconstruction of a 63-kilometer section of 500 kV Guzar-Regar transmission line has begun in Uzbekistan.

Reconstruction of the 500 kV Guzar - Regar power transmission line is carried out jointly with Tajik power engineers.

To maintain a balance of energy and water resources, as well as sustainable supply of electricity to consumers, Uzbekistan, together with Tajikistan, are implementing a number of investment projects. In particular, the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan JSC is implementing the investment project “Reconstruction of the 500 kV power transmission line Guzar - Regar (L-507),” the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan reports.

Completion of the reconstruction of this section is expected in the fourth quarter of this year.

The initial cost of the project is estimated at $ 25 million.

This investment project will be implemented in cooperation with the Chinese company Shanghai Electric Power Transmission & Distribution, the winner of an international tender.

The project is being implemented based on the protocol of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. This project is aimed at ensuring the reliability of power supply with  paralleled power systems of the two countries.
